My role as a therapist is to provide a welcoming experience into therapy and actively listen and connect with my clients to identify strengths and support them in meeting their goals in life. I believe that therapeutic relationships are critically important and are facilitated best through compassion, respect and active support. In addition, modeling a healthy and positive relationship, providing appropriate feedback and working together to help achieve personal goals is central to the client's ability to benefit from therapy. Working as a therapist is a rewarding experience as well as a privilege to be invited into another person’s life. I find that in joining clients on their journey to make changes and overcome the difficulties in their lives it enables them to discover their best self.

I have worked with clients in English/Spanish helping adults with co-occurring disorders, at-risk youth, children, adolescents and veterans, with exposure to trauma, neglect, abuse, and parents with parenting issues. Working with these clients early on in my career motivated me to help those who cannot help themselves.

When working with adolescents and adults with substance abuse issues, I use Motivational Interviewing and Seeking Safety techniques to encourage change and focus on improving and strengthening my client's motivation to change.

I have certifications in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Anxiety, Depression),Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Crisis Oriented Recovery Systems Model, and from the Department of Mental Health in these Evidence Based Practices: Seeking Safety and Motivational Interviewing.
